A big thank you to Severn Trent, who delivered the Mammal Dome and tunnel from Gardeners’ World Live, to school! These items had been stored in their warehouse. These pieces were on WIldlifeKate’s stand at the show and will become a major part of the Mammal Zone in the WildLearning Area! The mammal dome is made out of Severn Trent water piping and covered in artificial grass. We have set it up temporarily for the end of term, but we are looking for a carpet fitter to help us cut the artificial turf to fit the dome properly!

The mammal tunnel is a huge piece of water pipe and this is also covered in artificial turf. Pupils can use these areas to help them understand what it must be like to be a mammal living underground. These areas will be used in lots of ways to help us write imaginatively and have fun at the same time!

This Mammal Zone will be further developed in the new academic year, when we also set up hedgehog boxes, bat boxes and a mammal feeding station… so watch this space!
