We are keen to make our WildLearning Area Look as beautiful as possible, as well as being great for wildlife. After the winter, there are not many nectar sources for early insects, so spring bulbs can be a great way of offering an early food for hungry insects. Some bulbs are better than others for pollen and nectar. We chose a selection for both a visual appeal and that might be good for wildlife…..Screen shot 2013-10-08 at 09.58.53

The Year 3 pupils all came out and planted some crocus bulbs until we had managed to plant all 300 in a patch of grassland… these should look amazing in February.

The ground is rock hard and the planting of our daffodils will have to wait until we have had some rain  and the ground is a bit softer! We did manage to get some of our fritillaries and snowdrops planted around the pond area where the ground was a bit softer! You can see all our photos by clicking on the link below.
