The Bird ID Challenge at school is turning out to be hugely popular with over 180 children now on Level 1 (6 birds) nearly 50 on level 2 (12 birds) and an amazing 30 on Level 3 (20 birds).

The bird feeding station in the Wild Learning Area is very busy, but we needed something closer to school that pupils could watch on a daily basis. The one place that everyone goes, at some point, is the hall, so we have set a feeding station up just outside here. In this way, pupils can watch from the window as they et their dinner or when they are passing through.

Within a few minutes a robin, blue tit and coal tit visited, so it looks like it might be popular. This feeding station will be an excellent way for pupils to practise the ID of real birds and to become familiar with our most common visitors!
