Today Eco-Crew met to discuss how eco projects were progressing in school. We had the WWF #passthepanda with us. Considering the WWF Earth hour is all about us joining together to help preserve our planet, we thought it was perfect for us to show the panda around what we have been doing and planning!

First, we visited the hens and talked about them and what the children are gaining from learning to look after them. The Animal Care Mentors are doing a brilliant job looking after the hens and helping other children in different classes learn how to look after them too. We are building on this and having two rabbits after Easter. We looked at the new run that Mr Chadwick and Ms MacRae have been building. We discussed design aspects of this run and we are very much looking forward to welcoming some baby rabbits very soon!

We then moved outside to discuss the new Grow Zone. We looked at the large areas that have been cleared, ready for the raised beds. We are using some Lottery Fund money to help us set this up and it is going to be great! Some big wooden sleepers will be arriving in school soon and Mr Chadwick will make the beds. We will then have some soil delivered and we will fill the beds, ready for planting after Easter.

Next we moved down to the WIldLearning Area. Everything is progressing really well and starting to grow again. The crocus bulbs we planted are flowering and we were all delighted to find frogspawn in the pond! We all wanted to feel it and take a closer look.

We finished off by all planting some runner beans and putting them in our new mini greenhouse!

We came back into school and discussed all the progress and agreed that there are lots of exciting things happening!
