Wildlife Club started by doing a spot of gardening in the Grow Zone. A bit of weeding was needed before we planted some Autumn Onions that should grow and swell over the Autumn and winter ready for us to harvest next year.
Our strawberry plants have done really and they have sent out lots of runners. A runner is a long stem and a new strawberry plant grows on this stem. we can plant this new little strawberry plant ready for next year. We each took a new little strawberry plant from a runner and potted it up in a pot. We were able to take these home!
Next, we went into the courtyard and we had a look at a selection of skulls that WildlifeKate had brought into school. We had a close look at the deer skulls and tried them on for size!
We also had a look at a buzzard skull and a rabbit skull. We could see where the eyes went and the brain, protected inside the skull bone. We all found it really interesting. WildlifeKate also showed us a really cool book called Jake’s Bones. It is written by a 12yr old called Jake who collects bones.
