We have a Willow arch in our Quiet Area of the playground and we have purposely left it to grow long, so we can harvest it.
Willow is great because if you plant a willow twig, it will root and grow! You may remember that last year we built a willow dome in our WildLearning area. We made it out of what looked like twigs…. but by the summer, they had all rooted and burst into life!
Green team took the branches that WildlifeKate cut off and we sorted them into different sizes.
We also wound all the little sprouts back into the arch, so that, when it comes into leaf, it will all thicken up and look great.
In the next few weeks, we will make holes and plant up our harvested willow and see if we can create a tunnel that we can crawl trough in the summer!
