In order for us to draw up the plans for our new big Grow Zone bed, we need to know all the dimensions so we can create a scale drawing. Miss Henley’s maths group were up for the challenge so a group of them joined WildlifeKate to measure up. These measurements will then be taken back to the maths group tomorrow for them to use on a scale diagram.
Armed with tape measures and metre wheels, the group set about the task… it was not as easy as they had first thought!
Once we had completed all the measurements, we also measured a pallet as we are going to be using them for planting. We will need to know how many we can fit on there.
It is important to practise our maths skills in real contexts. There is no point knowing about measure, tents, if we cannot measure things for real! Using and applying our maths skills in real contexts is really important and also great fun!!
