Today, Eco-Crew, Years 4-6 drove to near Studley for a Heart of England Forest Tree planting day. Thousands of trees are being planted to create a new woodland that will mature as the children grow up. We said they could bring their children to the see the trees when they have grown up!
The event was attended by lots of schools and we took part in three activities… listening to a story-teller, visiting a woodland and then planting a tree. It was a lovely day to be outside with the spring sunshine shining and the birds singing!
We all planted an Oak sapling…
We then had a lovely walk around a woodland where we looked at a hole in a tree that a Tawny might live in and also a large badger sett!
We sat outside in the sunshine and ate our packed lunch, then we headed back into the woodland. Working in three teams, we had a go at building our own den out of the materials we could find lying around. We all did an amazing job and were very proud of our dens!
We had a brill day and thank you to all of the people who made today possible and to Mr Chadwick who drove the minibus for us!
