Work has continued in the Grow Zone today, with the ‘up-cycled’ area now nearly ready for planting. Mr Chadwick and Brian built the last of the beds and WildlifeKate put up some more tubes for bee hotels and the growing strings on the wall for our plants to climb up. She also had lots of helpers at dinner time to wheel barrow more wood chippings onto the liner.
In the afternoon, year groups came out into the Grow Zone so WildlifeKate could explain where everyone’s Grow Beds were and how we are all going to work together to grow all our fruits and vegetables. We all learnt about the different beds and also about the bee hotels. We even had our first Mason Bee visitor this week, who is already checking out one of the holes!
In the afternoon, the Green team started to plant up the Strawberry Pallet Bed. Little pockets of liner, filled with soil, were planted up with Strawberry plants. We hope they will grow well here and the strawberries will be kept off of the ground, keeping them away from the slugs!
It is all looking good and we hope to start planting next week!
