With the new academic year in full swing now, it was time for my first Green teams to meet and get going. This year, I have two Green Teams; one team is from Years 3 & 4 and the second group is from Years 5 & 6. These teams will be working with me on a weekly basis on exciting outdoor and practical tasks, learning away from the classroom environment.
With our Grow Zone still doing well, one of the first tasks for both groups was to pick beans and carrots! The beans went home for their tea, but we tasted the fresh carrots as soon as we had washed them…. they were delicious!!
The Green Teams were then very keen to go in with our school animals, so we learnt how to hold them safely and carefully and also treated Tom & Jerry to some tasty Dandelion leaves!
Finally, it was time to have an explore around the school grounds, where we found lots of feathers…. we think a pigeon may have been killed by a Sparrowhawk! We also discovered some lovely acorns and learnt that they grow on Oak trees!
A great start to our Green Teams and we will look forward to more exciting activities over the coming weeks!
