Green team collected lots of fir cones last week and they had the idea of turning them into hedgehogs. We collected some books together to see what hedgehogs looked like so we could think how we could turn our pine cones into mini versions! We learnt that hedgehogs only have spines on top of their bodies and the rest of their body is really hairy.
We decided to use some air dry clay to form the body. We shaped a little face and some ears and then pushed our pine cones firmly into the back of the clay. We used a tool to make the eyes and to create the hair on the sides.
We were very pleased with our creations!
Several staff stopped by and commented and we were able to show them exactly how to make their own fir cone hedgehog!
We are now going to collect some leaves and create some labels for a mini Hedgehog display in our area.
