With the weather getting colder and food getting scarcer, we have been increasing the food we are putting out for the birds at school. The Green teams and outdoor explorers were keen to make some bird feeders and we decided it was a good idea to use recycled materials. We collected some plastic bottles from the kitchen and cleaned them carefully. We cut small windows in the bottom for the birds to feed from.
They did not look very nice, so we decided we wanted to camouflage them. Collecting lots of green paper and some leaves, we used PVA glue to cover our bottles.
We put glue over the top too so it dried hard. WildlifeKate then gave them a coat of varnish to protect them from the weather. We left them to dry. Next week, we are going to add perches and put them put for the birds to use!
