We like to re-use, reduce and recycle at school and this week all the year groups had pupils who came out to help WildlifeKate build some Christmas trees out of pallets. We get lots of stuff delivered to school on pallets and we have used them before in our Grow Zone!
Mr Chadwick and WildlifeKate cut some of our pallets up. They drew a triangle in the middle of the pallet and cut it with the chainsaw. This triangle made the first xmas tree and the two bits either side joined up to make another one!
They cut up and created four pallet trees…. one for each year group.
WildlifeKate worked with pupils from each year group. They painted the tree…..
We also needed to make decorations both for these trees and also to sell at our up-coming Christmas Fayre! We had collected lots of lovely fir cones from our school grounds. We took white acrylic paint and very carefully painted the tip of every part of the pine cone. Sprinkling dusty glitter on, we got it to stick to the wet paint. Some of the cones, we painted PVA glue on the tips of the cone and then sprinkled a coloured glitter. ….
We loved how pretty they looked! We re going to add different coloured ribbons to make then look gorgeous for selling!
We carefully tied ribbon onto the cones and then hung them on our trees, with some pretty lights as well. We also put holly on top.
We have positioned our trees at our front entrance so you can take a look! We are thrilled with our Pallet Christmas Trees!
