As part of our RSPB Big School Birdwatch, every class in school were given some illustrations of UK birds and each pupil chose one to draw. They were all birds that pupils are very likely to see around our school grounds or in their own gardens. Pupils were encouraged to look carefully at their bird, its features and try to remember its name.
WildlifeKate is going to use the 500+ images to create a MDJS Bird Montage. There is a competition running for the most carefully drawn picture in each class and winners will be announced after half term, when the winners will be presented with a bird book!
WildlifeKate started looking at all the drawings and cutting them all out for the montage. We were blown away by the artistic talent of our pupils!!!! Wow! There are some incredibly carefully drawn pictures from Yr 3 through to Yr 6 and this is going to make a wonderful montage!
Here is Yr 6 working hard on their pictures…
and other pupils concentrating as they carefully looked at all the features of the birds to make sure their picture was recognisable!
It will take WildlifeKate some time in half term to look through all these wonderful drawings and get them ready for our montage…..
Even some of the staff had a go… we have some talent here at Michael Drayton! Here is Miss Chetwynd’s ..
and here is Mr Lawrence’s…
Here are just a small selection of some of the amazing drawings… well done everyone! We can’t wait to see them all put together as our 2016 Wild Learning Big School Birdwatch Montage!
